We went to the PC World in Poole and found the staff members to be friendly and polite, sadly the laptop we wanted had sold out and they informed us that their branch in Bournemouth had it in stock. The experience so far was very decent but once we had arrived at the Bournemouth branch the experience took a turn for the worse. It took awhile for a sales advisor to become free but understanding that it was busy, we expected it. Once a sales person did became free he went and got the laptop we wanted, but rather than walking us to the till he sat us down in a private area. He then started talking about accidental damage insurance, I politely informed him that we did not want the insurance, he was quick to challenge me and started telling me it was no insurance, it was protection cover. Again, I politely respond that we were not interested, he then said wait here and I'll go and talk to the manager and see if we can get you a deal, I tried to stop him but he was adamant that we take this insurance. 5mins had passed and he came back and informed us he could give us the insurance for 'free' on the first month, he then showed me on the computer that he had discounted the price of the insurance off the laptop price! I asked him if I would still get a direct debt for the first month and he said yes, I said well technically that's not free! and I would have to phone up and cancel, we're extremely busy I said and from there his attitude changed and the atmosphere was awful. I said politely that we did not want any extras where he informed us he didn't ask us, he would loose his job. He then started trying to sell as a 'SETUP' service on the laptop at one point he said rudely "Listen, if you don't want free stuff then there's no skin under my nose". Again, my partner remained calm and politely rejected the offer. He again then challenged our choice by saying the USB stick with the recovery setup was worth half of the install and he even tried to scare us from doing our own Windows updates by telling us it could go wrong and on most broadband connections it can take between 12-18 hours! We rejected all offers and then he vanished again to speak to his manager, 5mins passed and then he offered to knock off £10 of the setup, we refused. He was barely talking to us and you could tell that he was very angry and frustrated. He went to collect the laptop and told us that we had received the setup service absolutely free, I told him we wanted a laptop sealed, unopened, he said that was the last one! So the item we received was not brand new, it was open. Very disappointed with the member of staff that served my partner, embarrassing, because I recommended PC World, never again!
